Blood Orange Sorbet

Let's just start with things are weird outside. With everyone under quarantine and Day 5 of lock down for many in the U.S., my fiance and I are looking at a lot of Scrabble, video games and creative baking in our future. Here's a recipe to pump up your vitamin C and to keep you happy. Cheers!

Ingredient:

Orange Simple Syrup

1 cup fresh blood orange juice (about 6-8 blood oranges)
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups water
3 tbsp Cointreau

Directions:

1. Juice all of your blood oranges

2. In a medium saucepan on medium-high heat add your juice, sugar and water. Bring to a quick boil to dissolve sugar, then remove from heat
3. Let syrup sit 1-2 hours in the refrigerator until cool
4. Once mixture has cooled pour into your ice cream maker
5. Freeze following manufacturer's instructions
6. Towards the end of the freezing process add your Cointreau. This sorbet is best served after hardening in the freezer for a few hours! Pour a little bubbly over it for an adult treat, we all need it right now ;)
