Mirabelle Plum Sorbet

During the summer we hit the farmer’s market every Saturday. It’s awesome! So much produce to purchase I go a little nuts and start grabbing everything in sight. What comes from that (because my boyfriend won’t say no) are so many fruits and veggies that we can’t eat them fast enough so they end up going bad. What do I do with the extra ripe fruit? Of course turn them into dessert! This has to be one of my favorite sorbets I have ever made. Cheers!

Ingredients:

8 mirabelle plums
3/4 cup sugar
1 3/4 cup water
2 tbsp bourbon

Directions:

1. Split plums in half and remove the stone. Add plums, sugar, 1/4 cup of water to a medium saucepan and cook on medium-low heat until plums have melted and sugar has dissolved
2. Remove skins from saucepan and let plum mixture come to room temperature
3. Once mixture has cooled pour into blender and blend on high until smooth. Add remaining water to mixture
4. Freeze mixture in ice cream maker following manufaturer’s instructions. Add bourbon towards end of freezing to ensure easier scooping when enjoying sorbet later!
