One of the easiest desserts you can make is a granita. Period. Simply take your favorite fruit, add sugar, water, acid and there you have it! Sometimes this icy dessert is all you need on a 100 degree day and these flavors are calling to you for your 4th of July picnic. Cheers!
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1/2 cup sugar (or as much or little as you want, this recipe will be tart!)
1/4 cup filtered water*
Directions:
1. In a blender add all ingredients and blend until smooth (make sure you've removed all the pits before you blitz). If the pulp is too thick for you, strain before freezing
2. Pour contents into a shallow container like a casserole dish or Pyrex and place in freezer for 2 hours
3. Once semi-frozen, start raking your granita with a fork to get ice chips away from the sides of the container
4. Repeat freezing and raking until you reach desired consistency!
*Want to make this adult friendly? Try pouring 1 oz of vodka over your granita once frozen (in a glass) and enjoy that slushie!
