Sables Bretons: A David Lebovitz Recipe

Butter in my family is a way of life. Period. I grew up with a French grandmother, need I say more? When I found this recipe from David Lebovitz a few years ago I was ecstatic to share it with her. My grandmother was my biggest fan of all my baking and ice creams, but especially these cookies. This will be the first year we spend without her and I figured what better way than to share one of her favorite cookies on her birthday.

Every time I made these I always made sure to save her a tin. I loved being able to sit in her kitchen or on the deck with a mug of something and a nice biscuit listening to her stories about the war or the wild parties she and my grandfather used to throw. The family gossip was always interesting, to say the least. On the day of her funeral I made these cookies and posted them to Instagram as a tribute and funny enough David Lebovitz ended up sharing my picture with his followers via stories, it was an incredible treat.

I miss you, but don't worry I made some of these yesterday and they are all practically gone now (lack of self control runs in our family) 😊 Happy Birthday Mamie! Cheers!
