Milk Bar Birthday Cake

Let me preface with we are not cake people. It's not the most exciting dessert in my opinion and I don't even care for cupcakes, but when it's my fiance's big 30 you get excited because it's something you NEVER make. 

I ended up buying this cookbook on a whim ($10 on Amazon Kindle, thank you very much) and suffice it to say it's a ton better when you make it versus  buying from their store. Perhaps the store we visited was having a bad day? Then again we only had the ice cream and cookies.

We have a lot of May birthdays going on right now, so I did my research and found two recipes that I thought would be easy enough to try. HA, was I wrong about this one, but you know what, it's worth it all the same and I felt proud of myself for doing something outside of my comfort zone. Though to tell you the truth we haven't tried eating it yet (will report back), but it looks pretty! Cheers to 30 my dear!!
