Orange Cardamom Marmalade Galettes

This is another installment of what goes well with puff pastry. As with the others, this is a completely simple treat that will have anyone smile with delight. I always have frozen puff pastry in the freezer so if another dessert goes wrong all I have to do is defrost and slather with homemade marmalade! This is particularly perfect for after dinner treats that were spicy or incredibly filling. Cheers!

Ingredients:

Orange marmalade (I find the chunkier the better)
1/4 tsp ground cardamom (optional)
frozen puff pastry (thawed)
1/8 cup granulated sugar
4 tbsp cubed cold butter

Directions:

1. Let your pastry dough come close to room temperature (1-1.5 hours). Once defrosted, unroll the dough
2. Lay your pastry on a silicon baking mat (or parchment paper) on a cookie sheet (there is no rolling required)
3. Take a pizza cutter or a sharp knife and delicately cut your pastry down the middle width and lengthwise to create a cross section. Carefully separate the dough on the sheet so they have enough room to rise. Don't overcrowd your pastry, otherwise it won't puff up
4. Mix your marmalade you will be using with the cardamom. Add 2 tablespoons of marmalade to each of your sheets while spreading it slightly. Make sure not to spread the marmalade to the edge as you want nice puffy sheets!
5.Sprinkle your sugar evenly all over the pastry. Don't worry about being messy!
5. Sprinkle your cubed butter evenly all over your pastry sheets
6. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees FahrenheitWhile the oven is heating up place your cookie sheet in the refrigerator
7. Once the oven has fully heated, place your cookie sheet in the oven and bake your pastry for 15-20 minutes until the pastry has puffed up and is golden brown
